Bussing Information

The Kaukauna Area School District and Kobussen Buses have a long-standing partnership of transporting students. The District's commitment to the safety and security of its students is only exemplified by Kobussen's never-ending pursuit of offering the best possible before and after-school experience for those that qualify for bus transportation and choose to utilize the service.  The alliance between KASD and Kobussen - which is one of the longest-standing public-private ventures in the State of Wisconsin - continues strong with the belief by both that every student deserves the best every day.

The Kaukauna Area School District Transportation Policy is as follows:

  • 4-year old through 4th grade students living more than 1.0 miles from their assigned school will be transported
  • 5th grade through 12th grade students living more than 2.0 miles from their assigned school will be transported

2023-2024 Paid Bussing Option

In the past KASD and Kobussen partnered to offer a "paid bussing" option for students that did not qualify for transportation based on the policy.  To take part in the paid bussing program the following stipulations had to be met:

  • The bus route in which the student would utilize to transport to and from school had to have available space on the bus

  • The student had to get to an existing bus stop - no new stops were created for students participating in the paid bus program

  • The parent/guardian would work directly with Kobussen on setting up the paid bussing and payment would be made to Kobussen

Kaukauna Schools will be offering a "paid bussing" option for the 2023-2024 school year.  There will be some modifications to the program.  Below are the stipulations for paid bussing for the coming school year:

  • The bus route in which the student would be assigned to must have available space on the bus

  • The student will be assigned to an existing stop as no new stops will be created

  • A parent or guardian will utilize the attached form to have the student added to the list of potential paid bus riders.  Instructions on returning the form are listed on it

  • Paid bus riders will not be notified until the second week in September as to their approval or denial of their application.  This timeframe is necessary to ensure space is available on the bus

  • The cost for paid bussing for the 2023-2024 school year will be $350 per student.  There will be no refunds issued after the application is approved with an invoice to be sent immediately from the Kaukauna Area School District.  There will be no exceptions to the fee with all those participating in the "paid bussing" program obligated to make payment

  • The invoice must be paid in full no later than October 15, 2023.  Failure to make payment by that date will nullify the agreement of paid bussing between the parent/guardian and KASD and the student will be removed from the bus route

Please complete this form and submit if you would like to sign up for paid bussing.  The submitted forms will be time stamped with those received first given first consideration for a bus route.  Should you have further questions feel free to email
