Following more than a year of study and community dialogue, the School Board voted unanimously to authorize a $198 million facilities referendum question to be placed on the November 5, 2024 General Election ballot.
This plan is student-centered, community-driven, and future-focused.
In direct response to community feedback, the Kaukauna Area School Board carefully refined the preliminary proposal, reducing the overall project cost by more than $20 million by prioritizing our most pressing needs and eliminating the birth to school-age child care centers and the new gym at Tanner Elementary School. This reduction lowers the estimated tax impact from $0.95 to $0.73.
Why Now?
Community Feedback
Community feedback gathered over the past year indicates that RVMS no longer meets student needs, making further investment in the 100-year-old building a fiscally irresponsible solution.
Cost of Waiting
There is a significant financial cost to waiting - construction costs continue to rise each year. For example, the replacement of RVMS would likely cost approximately $45 million more if a referendum was delayed until 2028.
Declining Tax Rate
With the District’s tax rate dropping due to the repayment of previous debt and strong fiscal management, the KASD community can address facility needs in this declining tax impact window.
