Congratulations to the following January 2021 Students of the Month at Kaukauna High School. Keep working strong, Ghosts!
Art: Dakota Nett, Grade 12
The art department nominates Dakota Nett for her outstanding dedication to her work. Dakota is a quiet student in class, but has clearly grasped class concepts...evident by the quality work she produces. It is a joy having her in my art classes this year!
Ms. Nicole Beck
Business: Hunter Natrop, Grade 11
Hunter has enrolled in several BIT courses this year and has taken several of our offerings throughout the last couple of years. Hunter is an excellent young man that is always willing to lend a helping hand to his fellow classmates. His personality and communication skills make him a leader inside and outside of the classroom. Hunter has an excellent attitude and comes to class each day eager to learn. Hunter loves the learning process and enthusiastically involves himself in business, marketing, and information technology concepts. Hunter is one of the many faces at KHS that make Kaukauna STRONG!
Mr. Rob VanderHeiden
English: Garett Graff, Grade 11
Garett Graff is in my CAPP College Reading course and has done exceptional work this trimester. This class requires a great deal of self-sufficiency and students need to really stay on top of their assignments, reading difficult, college-level text. Garett has shown great independence and self-discipline. He stays on top of his work, communicating and reaching out when he needs help, and goes above and beyond what is expected of him. This has been a tough year for students, but Garett demonstrates that he has what it takes to be a successful student no matter what.
Ms. Nicole Hochholzer
Family and Consumer Science: Loretta Nagan, Grade 9
Loretta is bubbly, kind and respectful student in-person and virtually. She involves the all-virtual students during labs in a respectful way so that the all-virtual student feels a part of the class. She works well with others in class, and is a great student and person. I'm glad to have Loretta again this school year! She's definitely a positive add to the classroom setting!
Ms. Jacqui Jenkins
General Education: Connor Thielen, Grade 11
Connor has grown so much in his first year at Kaukauna High School. While attending school virtually, he has been able to build relationships with peers and teachers. His peers look forward to seeing him online everyday and chatting with him. He is a pleasure to have in class and is always willing to try a new activity. He has worked hard this year; navigating his communication device, working on independent living skills, and social skills. His teachers and I look forward to continuing to get to know Connor and working toward his goals.
Ms. Brittani Feuerhelm
Math: Kurtis Thao, Grade 9
Kurtis does a great job in Algebra each and every day whether he is virtual or in-person. You can tell Kurtis puts a lot of time and effort into his math work. Every problem is thoroughly worked out with detail and accuracy. When Kurtis is unsure of himself, he takes the time to get help in Flex time. Kurtis is polite and courteous to everyone. His classmates always want him to be part of their collaborative problem-solving team. Although quiet by nature, when Kurtis offers his thoughts, they are precise and thoughtful. Thank you, Kurtis, for being such a positive role model in Algebra. It has been a pleasure working with you!
Ms. Alison Johnson
Music: Summer Aldinger, Grade 12
Summer is an embodiment of a leader in the classroom, even from distance learning. Summer has been a self-starter by choosing to do an independent study with me and jumping into every situation that she can help with. She is willing to go above and beyond to make sure the other students and band program are excelling and having fun. Thank you, Summer.
Mr. Jacob Martin
Physical Education / Health: Kelsee Crogan, Grade 11
Kelsee is a new student to our district traveling all the way from Texas. Being a junior and switching not only to a new state but also a new school would be a significant challenge for anyone, but Kelsee has made it seem easy. She is a welcome addition to our school district because she is a respectful, intelligent and responsible student…..someone all teachers would thoroughly enjoy working with. I think I am especially impressed with Kelsee because of her contributions to National Honor Society. Kelsee took the initiative to inquire about our NHS program and the possibility of transferring into our chapter. Not only did she inquire about the opportunity, she took care of all the to-do’s that needed to be addressed in order to be added to our program. In addition, Kelsee decided to apply and was accepted to the Leadership Team. To say she has made a discernible difference in our program would be an understatement. Kelsee is someone I can count on to get involved, to take initiative, be responsible and to take charge...leading by example! What an outstanding addition KHS has had to our district, NHS and our community as a whole.
Ms. Karla Miller-Flynn
Science: Nolan Hietpas, Grade 9
Nolan is a driven individual who puts his best effort into everything he turns in. He not only asks and answers questions during class discussions, he reaches out to make connections on his own time as well. The respect he shows towards others is evident in all he does, his good humor brings everyone together and helps make class more fun for everyone. Oh and he also rocks a pretty mean mullet. Nice job Nolan!
Mr. Quinn Barrington
Social Studies: Cole Ritzke, Grade 11
Cole Ritzke is being recognized as “Student of the Month” because he represents, through his class contributions, character, personality, and intellectual curiosity, the standard by which all other social studies students should be judged. Cole is the student who can be counted on to ask thoughtful questions and make insightful comments that force his fellow students to think deeply about the topic at hand. In Social Studies, Cole’s intense interest in the world, particularly in economics and politics, enable him to connect his learning and use his curiosity to deepen his understanding of the courses in which he is enrolled.
Mr. Patrick Meyer
Technology & Engineering: Travis Erath, Grade 12
In 3D Design and Animation he shows the joy and enthusiasm for learning that we should all have. Travis has taken it upon himself to find different learning opportunities outside of my class to find out more about digital animation. What he learns he is enthusiastic to share both virtually and in person. Travis is a great student, a good person, and has a bright future.
Mr. Kevin Otradovec
World Languages: Collin Owen, Grade 9
I am very pleased to nominate Collin Owen for World Language Student of the Month. What is outstanding to me is Collin’s winning attitude. He participates very actively everyday, whether he is in-person or learning at home. He is a joy to have as a student!
