Based on the current local conditions and recommendations, the District’s COVID-19 protocols will be as follows:
General mitigation strategies
Throughout the school year, all families are encouraged to follow the basics of infection prevention to ensure that our schools remain healthy learning environments for all students. These preventative measures include keeping your child home when he/she is feeling ill, proper hand washing, and using good cough etiquette.
If your child has COVID-19 symptoms and/or If your child tests positive for COVID-19:
Please keep your child home when he/she is feeling ill.
If your child is displaying symptoms of COVID-19, testing is recommended.
Students may return to school after they are fever-free without fever-reducing medications for 24 hours and symptoms are improving overall.
Close contacts do not need to quarantine if they are not experiencing symptoms of COVID-19
Schools will no longer send notification letters to families when there is a positive case of COVID-19 in a classroom.
Masking
Masking is optional for all KASD students and staff at any time.
